No, you do not need a 4WD to visit Cape Tribulation. The roads here are mostly sealed with some gravel residential streets. Daintree Coast roads are suitable for hire cars & caravans of all types & size. If you plan to travel north of Cape Tribulation to Cooktown via the Bloomfield Track then you will need a 4WD. You can drive a 2WD car as far as Emmagen Creek.

The Bloomfield Track (approx. 33kms) is where the sealed road turns to dirt and your 4WD adventures begins! This scenic drive connects Cape Tribulation to the nearby town of Wujal Wujal, Bloomfield & Cooktown, it offers stunning views of the rainforest and coastline. While it is allowed to take a caravan & trailer on the Bloomfield Track, it’s not recommended for larger vans due to the track’s rugged conditions.  If you’re planning to explore the area, and would like to leave your caravan behind we offer storage at the park. We apologize, but we do not allow pets in our park. Our boundary shares with the Daintree National Park – The world’s oldest rainforest, which is home to the endangered cassowary. Cassowaries are known to be sensitive to dogs, and we prioritize the protection of our native wildlife. If you have a registered service animal, we are happy to accommodate you; please contact our office prior to your arrival to discuss your needs. Thank you for your understanding!

Generators are strictly prohibited in the beach camping area both powered and unpowered sites. If you’re staying at Green Camp, we encourage the use of solar panels however due to wet weather we understand solar is not always an option, we do allow you to run your generator at green camp during daylight hours only—please be considerate of your neighbors.

Our camping office is open 9 AM to 5 PM, seven days a week. If you’re arriving outside these hours, please notify the office , they will notify you of the late check in procedure, after hours check ins are welcome until 8pm. Arrivals after 8pm will encure a fee. We encourage all guests to arrive during daylight hours to ensure a smooth setup and to minimize disturbance to your neighbors.

Yes, there is Telstra and Optus phone coverage at the park. We also have wifi.

Camping just isn’t complete without a campfire! Campfires are a go in designated spots with firepits. If you want to bring your own firepit, just make sure it doesn’t scorch the grass. At Green Camp, we ask you to use the existing fireplaces and keep your flames small. Don’t forget to put out your fire when you head off, and please don’t chuck any rubbish in there. Need firewood? We’ve got plenty for sale at the campground!

No not at the park – You can refill your gas bottles on your way to us at Mossman Hardware. Alternatively, support local business by using the Swap and Go gas bottles available at the Friendly Grocer in Cape Tribulation.

There is only one fuel station which is at Daintree Rainforest Village on Cape Tribulation Road, just 4 kilometres north of the Alexander Bay Primary School and the Daintree Ice Cream Company.

Cape Tribulation Beach is known for its stunning beauty, but it’s also one of the more adventurous beaches out there! With jellyfish and some rather territorial saltwater crocodiles nearby, it’s best to skip the swim at the beach. For a safer splash, head over to Masons Swimming Hole – short walk from the park.

There are saltwater crocodiles nearby in the river systems, but you are safe camping in the park. Which means no swimming at the beach and being extra cautious around water, especially at night.

Cassowaries can be spotted around Cape Tribulation, often roaming the rainforests and trails. Great spots to look for them include Madja Boardwalk and The Daintree Discovery Centre, located in the heart of the ‘Cassowary Corridor.’ Keep an eye out for recent sightings signs!
